The quaint town of Burlington sits on the western edge of Hartford County and combines the best of both worlds: the convenience of easy access major urban areas with rural charm.
Half of the land within the town limits of Burlington is preserved in its natural state by three water companies. This, combined with well planned development regulations, has helped to maintain the stunning natural beauty of the town.
The state run Burlington Trout Hatchery raises over 350,000 salmon and trout every year, using these fish to stock the state's lakes, ponds, streams and rivers. Burlington also sports a well maintained recreation area with wide open fields, a ball park and a pond for outdoor activities and sports. Residents also find easy access to the Farmington River, an ideal place for canoeing and fishing.
Regional School District 10 is comprised of Burlington and its neighbor Harwington. All three schools, Lake Garda Elementary School, the Har-Bur Middle School and the Lewis S. Mills High School are conveniently located in town.
The well-funded Public Library is a fresh, modern facility that offers special programs for children of all ages as well as adult oriented programs.
