Glastonbury has the highest number of pre-Revolutionary homes in Connecticut. These gems are complemented with a variety of well-preserved federal and colonial styles, contemporary designed homes, condominiums and small apartments.

Protecting thickly wooded lots and farmland, Glastonbury has purchased hundreds of acres of open space. The Meshomasic State Forest, Cotton Hollow Preserve and the Connecticut River maintain habitats for many New England animal and plant species.

Leisure activities in wildlife preserve is provided in Earle Park. Holland Brook Center is maintained by the Audubon Society, which exhibits live animals and plant life indigenous to Connecticut.

Town parks, playground and baseball diamonds offer individual and team sports, including tennis, swimming, ice-skating and golf. Hiking trails and horseback riding along with camping facilities is available in Gay City State Park.
