Known as the "Clock City", Bristol is the home to the American Clock and Watch Museum, one of the many early Connecticut industries in this community.

Bristol offers a diverse choice of houses, including: historic colonials, remarkable Victorians, new construction, apartments and condominiums.

In addition to smaller shops and businesses in town, Bristol has many commercial services and large retail stores. ESPN, the country's largest cable TV network, is headquartered in Bristol. CIGNA Insurance, as well as Otis Elevator, both have large plants located in the city. Among the commercial shopping destinations are Bristol Commons, Bristol Farm Plaza and Pine Street Shopping Center.

Lake Compounce in Bristol, is the oldest amusement park in continuous operation in North America. Other recreational and cultural activities in Bristol include: the Nature Center, the New England Carousel Museum, the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Center, and a senior community center.

Passing through the town is Interstate 84, which commuters drive to Hartford, Waterbury, New Haven and beyond.
