The name Rocky Hill was derived from the rocky ledges, prominent among its scenic landscape.

Also part of the local terrain are stunning areas of wide open farm land, a rolling valley along the Connecticut River and many enjoyable suburban neighborhoods.

Only 8 miles from the commercial and business center of downtown Hartford, Rocky Hill is a commuter’s paradise. It is also within easy reach of New Haven and Middletown along interstate 91.

The active community center offers programs for residents of all ages. An in-town shuttle service for senior citizens is also provided. A number of special events, summer activities, sports and ice skating are arranged and promoted by the towns busy recreation department. Ferry Park offers a boat launch and handicapped-accessible fishing pier.

A popular attraction among local kids is Dinosaur State Park, which includes one of the largest dinosaur track sites in North America.
